2ND MARSHAL ARJAN SINGH MEMORIAL INTERNATIONAL HOCKEY TOURNAMENT 2019 TO START

2nd Marshal Arjan Singh Memorial International Hockey Tournament will start at Air Force, 3 BRD’s Astro Turf Hockey Ground from tomorrow. Opening Ceremony will be chaired by Air Marshal RKS Shera, AOC-in-C, HQ Maintenance Command followed by opening match between Indian and Sri Lankan Air Force team. Last year Punjab Police own the crown while IAF remained runner up during 1st Marshal Arjan Singh Memorial Hockey Tournament.
A Total of 16 teams would be participating in this tournament. Apart from the elite Indian teams, Air Force teams from Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have also confirmed their participation in this edition, making it truly an international event. League matches will be played at Sector 42 Hockey stadium and 3 BRD as per schedule. Sri Lankan Air Force,Bangladesh Air Force,CISF,Integral Coach Factory, Chennai,South Central Railway,Hockey Patiala,Hockey Chandigarh,Punjab Police,Indian Navy,Sri Guru Govind Singh Chandigarh,Sri Meghbran Singh Academy Karampur,Punjab & Sind Bank,Indian Navy,Vivek Academy, Varanasi,Sports College Lucknow and Indian Air Force team will be vying for the championship trophy.
A Curtain Raiser & Press Conference for the tournament was held today at 3 BRD, AF. Air Commodore M Mohanta, Chairman Air Force Sports Control Board, New Delhi presided over the conference in which Air Commodore Sanjiv Ghuratia, Air Officer Commanding, 3 Base Repair Depot, and Group Captain Deepak Ahluwalia, Secretary Air Force Sports Control Board, New Delhi gave details of the tournament.
Late Marshal of the Indian Air Force Arjan Singh DFC was the first and only ‘Five Star” rank officer of Indian Air Force. His passion for the game of hockey was unparalleled. The IAF legend had always been an inspiration to air warriors leading from the front not only in the war front but also in the field of sports.
The Closing Ceremony will be held on 25 April where Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa, Chief of the Air Staff would be the Chief Guest.
