36th Annual Athletic Meet at DSCW, Sector 45 Chandigarh

Dev Samaj College for Women, Sector 45B, Chandigarh organized its 36th Annual Athletic Meet on March 20, 2019. Chief Guest, Tejdeep Singh Saini, Director Sports, Panjab University Chandigarh, Dr. Agnese Dhillon, Principal, Dev Samaj College of Education, Maanvinder Singh Mangat, Chief Administrative Officer, Dev Samaj, Sabeeha Dhillon Mangat, Coordinator, I.S. Dev Samaj Senior Secondary School, Sector-21 graced the occasion. The finals of various events such as Shot put, Discuss Throw, Javelin Throw, Long Jump etc were held during the day. Many students participated enthusiastically in the Sports Meet. Several fun races such as Potato Race, Three legged Race, Sack Race and Chatti Race adorned the athletic meet. Such races not only entertained the crowd but earned several cheers from the teachers. Inter class Tug of War was another event which had maximum participation. Maximum girls participated in this event in order to outnumber the other class. A special tug of war, Staff Vs Students was one of the main highlights of the day. Best Athlete for the session 2018-19 was awarded to Sonia BA-I.

The Sports day amidst several races and other events completely mesmerised the crowd and was really applauded. Dr. Surinder Kaur, Head of Dept., Physical Education and Sports welcomed the guests and read out the report of the college sports activities.

Madam Principal, Dr. Jaspal Kaur not only congratulated the prize winners but also boosted the morale of other participants. She said that such events bring a new wave of freshness among students from their otherwise busy academic schedule. The Chief Guest, Tejdeep Singh Saini, said that such events brought back memories of his own college days. He complimented that the girls today not only make a mark in studies but also show their skills in other extra curricular activities and also excel in them. He congratulated Madam Principal for making such meets a part of the curriculum.
