940 Receive Prizes at SD College Annual Prize Distribution

As many as 933 students and 7 members of the faculty were awarded prizes on the Annual Prize Distribution Function of GGDSD College. Students were awarded for meritorious performance in academics, sports and cultural activities. As many as seven members of the faculty were felicitated and awarded cash prize of Rs 5,000 each for completing their PhD during the current academic session.
In appreciation of their brilliant performance, 73 students were awarded the Roll of Honour while 100 students received the College Colour. Another 398 students were awarded Certificate of Distinction while 361 students received Certificate of Merit.
Student Hemlata received the award for Outstanding Achiever of the year for her exceptional performance in Panjab University Zonal and Inter-Zonal Youth Festivals as well as Inter-University Youth Festival during the current academic session. She was also awarded the Roll of Honour by Panjab University this year during the prize distribution function of the University.
The function was presided over by Dr P J Singh, CMD, Tynor Orthotics Pvt. Ltd.
The function began with the rendition of Saraswati Vandana by the college students. Dr Anirudh Joshi, General Secretary, GGDSD College society, welcomed the chief guest and shared important milestones achieved by the College. Dr Joshi informed “For the third consecutive year, GGDSD College has been included among top 100 colleges of the country by National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) List released for 2019. From a rented bungalow in 1973, the College has risen to this stature where it is the first choice of students of the region.”
Addressing students, Dr P J Singh said he was “Impressed with the culture of high competence at SD College. Being in the corporate world, I know the importance that graduates of GGDSD College get vis-a-vis those from other colleges.”
Dr Singh advised students to remain life-long learners. “Perennial success comes when you deliver in both theory and practical aspects of business. IQ gets you the job, but your growth depends on the EQ. Behavioural competence is as important as knowledge,” shared Dr Singh.
