A meeting of the Standing Committee of the Administrator’s Advisory Council constituted under the head “Traffic Management” held

A meeting of the Standing Committee of the Administrator’s Advisory Council constituted under the head “Traffic Management” was held under the Chairmanship of Rajesh Kumar, Ex-Mayor, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh at Committee Room of Police Head Quarters, Sector 9, Chandigarh. Manoj Kumar, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, Traffic & Security, U.T, Chandigarh attended this meeting as a Member Secretary to this Advisory Council along with all DSP’s/Traffic.

                A brief presentation was given by the Member Secretary which was followed by viewpoints/suggestions by concerned members present in the meeting. 

                During the meeting, it was decided that multi-level parking should be constructed at most busy locations in the city.  Strict action needs to be taken against Auto drivers for not affixing fare meter.  Traffic awareness/education should be enhanced in Future Road users i.e. Children/students of the city. Construction of Traffic Police Booths with toilet facilities at major chowks/intersections for the welfare of police officials. Lightening arrangements at cycle tracks for the safety of cyclists during night hours.  Unauthorized stopping/parking of auto rickshaws at bus-bay lane in the city. Strict action needs to be taken against zig-zag driving (dangerous driving) in the city. Repair/replacement of street lights in the city.

                All the members of this committee gave their suggestions which will be worked out in future meetings. The committee was apprised of the work being done by the Chandigarh Traffic Police and was presented data on road safety and traffic rules enforcement in the city.  The members and the Chairman appreciated the work being done by the Chandigarh Traffic Police.

                At the end all the members thanked Chandigarh Traffic Police for road safety enhancement and enforcement of traffic rules in the city beautiful.
