Administration is working towards improving Ease of Doing Business in UT : Dharam Pal

The UT Administration is working towards improving Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) in Chandigarh, said Mr Dharam Pal, Adviser to UT Administrator during Industry – Administration Roundtable organised by CII. Chandigarh is lagging in EoDB rankings and our efforts are to improve the ranking of UT by removing procedural bottlenecks and making systems online like we have done with UT Estate Office, which has been completely digitised with all its property-related services, he added.

Mr Dharam Pal also shared his vision for Chandigarh from citizen centric services to overall growth and development of the UT. He discussed about his vision of making Chandigarh as an Education & Healthcare Hub in North India. Chandigarh also has a potential to position itself as a attractive commerce centre catering to the needs of neighbouring states like Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh, he added.

During this special session Dr Vijay Namdeorao Zade, Finance Secretary, Chandigarh Administration; Mr Debendra Dalai, Secretary, Science & Technology, Chief Conservator of Forests; Ms Hargunjit Kaur, Secretary -Industries, Chandigarh Administration and Mr Rajiv Prashad, Director – Industries, Chandigarh Administration also interacted with industry leaders.

Mr Manish Gupta, Chairman, CII Chandigarh UT while presenting the CII agenda for UT of Chandigarh dwelled on need for enabling ecosystem for growth trade & industry including that of the start-ups. He called for Chandigarh positioning itself as Shivalik Valley in the lines of Silicon Valley.  He also called for smart mobility solutions including roll-out of the EV framework for the city and Administration’s focus on easing doing business climate in the city.
