CORONAVIRUS Updates for Tourism and Hospitality Industries The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), GoI is closely monitoring the outbreak of respiratory illness caused by a novel (new) coronavirus (termed “2019-nCoV”) that was first detected in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China and which continues to expand.
• MoHFW has initiated inflight announcements with regard to nCoV and entry screening for travellers from 2019-nCoV affected countries at designated airports
• Mechanism for in country surveillance and contact tracing has been put in place
• Advisories for travellers visiting China and arriving from China have been issued.
• Public health preparedness including diagnostics, hospital preparedness, IPC, response, logistics is being constantly reviewed.
The only Travel Advisory issued by the MoHFW is for travel to and from China.
Indian travellers have been advised to REFRAIN FROM TRAVELING TO CHINA.
Those planning a visit to India from China:
Existing visas (including eVisa already issued) are no longer valid for any foreign national travelling from China.
People travelling to China henceforth will be quarantined on return.
Intending visitors may contact Embassy in Beijing (firstname.lastname@example.org) or the Consulates in Shanghai (email@example.com) and Guangzhou (firstname.lastname@example.org) to apply afresh for an Indian visa.
The Indian Embassy in China continues to remain contactable 24×7 on two hotline numbers +8618610952903 & +8618612083629 and the dedicated email email@example.com. Indian nationals in need of any assistance may get in touch with the Embassy on these hotlines and email.
The above Travel Advisory, along with the Self Reporting Form for all Travelers arriving from 2019-nCov affected countries have been forwarded to all Trade and Hospitality Associations. All Associations and their members have been advised to be vigilant about possible suspect cases and bring the same to the notice of the health authorities.
MoHFW has advised that hotels could also keep a watch on travellers from China/Nepal and report if any travellers from these two countries complain of symptoms of a respiratory infection such as fever, cough and/ or difficulty in breathing. In such instances, the hotel is to immediately call up the Control Room of National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Phone No. 011- 23978046. The detailed information of the travellers is to be captured in the self-reporting format.
