GMCH Celebrates its 28th Annual Day

Government Medical College & Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32 observed its 28th Annual Day. Kirron Kher, City MP was the chief guest and Rajesh Kumar, Mayor, MC Chandigarh was the Guest of honour.
While addressing the audience, Prof BS Chavan Director Principal GMCH highlighted the achievements of GMCH in last one year.
Kirron Kher during her address congratulated the faculty and staff for valuable contribution in providing quality healthcare facilities not just in for the citizen of Chandigarh but also to people from surrounding states. Besides, she drew attention towards the pressing healthcare requirements including shortage of doctors, the need to curb the growing menace of non-communicable diseases, adoption of hygiene and sanitary practices. She also emphasized on importance of research especially pertaining to local issues.
Dr. Chavan shared that GMCH today stands at 7th Rank among all the Govt Medical Colleges of the country and it has improved its rank by 2-points. GMCH has been permitted by the MCI to admit 150 students from the current year. The other major achievements include starting of DM in neo-natalogy, sector 48 Hospital has been attached with GMCH for indoor facilities of the Department of Dermatology, ENT, Psychiatry and Radiation Oncology, 87 new staff nurses have joined GMCH, cash less treatment has been provided to more than 800 patients under Ayushman Bharat, construction of Emergency and Trauma Block and Mother and Child Block at a cost of 52 crore and 32 crore is likely to start during the current year, GMCH has signed an MOU with Western University for student exchange programme.
