Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatraya Greets People on Diwali

THE VOICE OF CHANDIGARH NEWS:

Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatraya has extended his warm greetings and good wishes to the people of the state on the auspicious Diwali. He wished that this festival of Diwali may bring happiness, enthusiasm and prosperity to the people of the state.

Dattatraya said that the festival of Diwali is celebrated on the new moon day of Kartik month. According to the holy book Ramayana, when Lord Shri Ram returned to Ayodhya after spending fourteen years of exile and conquering Lanka, the people of Ayodhya celebrated this day as a festival by lighting ghee lamps throughout the country.

He said that the festival of Deepawali is associated with Lakshmi, the wife of Lord Vishnu and the goddess of wealth and prosperity. On this day all people offer prayers for wealth, prosperity and inclusion of spiritual values in life. On this day Lord Krishna killed the demon Narakasura and this day is also celebrated as the Nirvana Day of Lord Mahavir Jain. This festival gives the message of light from the darkness. As it is said in the Upanishads that ‘Tamaso Ma Jyotirgamaya’ means ‘O Lord, lead me from darkness to light.’

Governor Shri Dattatraya said that the soul of man gets weakened due to evils. Spiritual light is lit by lighting diyas on the dark night of Amavasya to ignite the light of discipline and goodness in life.

The Governor has appealed to all the people of the state to celebrate the Diwali festival with enthusiasm by lighting earthen lamps in their respective homes for environmental protection and good health. The festival of Deepawali takes us from darkness to light, thanks to which happiness, peace and prosperity will increase in the state and Haryana will continue to progress at a much faster pace.
