Haryana Vidhan Sabha passed the Punjab Village Common Lands (Regulation) Haryana Amendment Act 2020
The Voice of Chandigarh News:
Haryana Vidhan Sabha passed the Punjab Village Common Lands (Regulation) Haryana Amendment Act, 2020 to amend the Punjab Village Common Lands (Regulation) Act, 1961.
The Act omits the name of the area which is not part of Haryana State and to include the definition of sabha area given in the Haryana Panchayati Raj Act, 1994 as the earlier definition had become obsolete.
It was also considered necessary to increase the penalty and to link the rate of penalty with the value of the land in case of encroachment on lands in shamlat deh to make the penalty serve as an effective deterrent. Further to avoid misinterpretation of the exception clause, it was considered necessary to omit item (i) of section 2(g) of the Punjab Act No. 18 of 1961 (Applicable to Haryana).
