The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, has assured the freedom fighters from the state that their demands would be considered sympathetically. India got Independence due to the hard work and supreme sacrifices made by our freedom fighters, he said.
The Chief Minister gave this assurance while speaking at the residence of Chairman, Swatantrata Senani Samman Samiti, Mr Lalti Ram, in Panchkula, near here, today.
He enquired about the well-being of INA soldiers, widows of freedom fighters and their dependents who had come from various districts of the state and urged them to inculcate in children the spirit of love for the motherland.
The freedom fighters presented the Chief Minister with their charter of demands. It includes one per cent reservation for the fourth generation of freedom fighters in educational institutions, removal of condition of 75 per cent disability in case of son in getting pension given to unmarried and unemployed sons and daughters of freedom fighters, inclusion of dependents of the soldiers of INA in the ex-servicemen’s category for reservation and pension to the first generation successors of INA freedom fighters.
On this occasion, Mr Manohar Lal honoured the freedom fighters. They are Anand Lal from district Rewari, Duli Chand from Dwarika, Jagir Singh and Kehar Singh from Ambala, Bale Ram from Hisar, Bhag Mal Nambardar from Manesar, and Prabhi Devi, wife of Late Chandan Singh form Jind.
Among the dependents, Ravinder Dahiya, Lekh Raj Raghav and Kapoor Singh Dalal from Gurugram, Bhagwan Phogat, Rajender Singh, Hari Singh, Umed Singh, Rakesh, Sanatan and Raj Karan from Charkhi Dadri, and Rambir from Jhajjar and Subedar Vijender Thakran from Gurugram, were presented with a shawl each.
Those present included Mr Lalti Ram, Chairman, Swatantrata Senani Samman Samiti, MLA Ambala, Mr Ratan Lal Kataria, MLA, Panchkula, Mr Gian Chand Gupta, and others.
