Justice Surya Kant Judge Supreme Court of India visited the Punjab and Haryana High to inaugurate the newly renovated Bar Room

Hon’ble Mr Justice Surya Kant, Judge Supreme Court of India visited the Punjab and Haryana High Court on the invitation of the High Court Bar Association to inaugurate the newly renovated Bar Room. The function was attended by Hon’ble Mr Justice Ajay Tewari, Hon’ble Mr Justice Augustine George Masih, Hon’ble Justice Ritu Bahri and other Hon’ble Judges of Punjab and Haryana High Court. G.B.S. Dhillon worthy President, Vikas Malik Vice President, Chanchal K. Singla, Honorary Secretary and other office-bearers welcome the worthy guest. G.B.S. Dhillon, worthy President HCBA apprised the Hon’ble Judge regarding the issues faced by the Hon’ble Members of the Bar due to COVID-19 pandemic and the welfare activities undertaken by the Bar Association which includes providing of Rs. 50,000/- COVID relief to the COVID affected families of the Hon’ble Member and also providing of health insurance up to Rs. 4 Lac from the corpus being maintained by the Bar Association.

Hon’ble Mr Justice Surya Kant praised the activities of the Bar Association and stressed the need to introduce a social security scheme for the lawyer’s community and for this he requested Advocate Generals of Punjab and Haryana who were present in the function to take up the issue with their respective governments.

Hon’ble Justice Surya Kant also stressed the need to shift from core-litigation to newly emerging areas of law i.e. Commercial and insolvency litigation and for this, he stressed the need to establish a training academy on the lines of the National Judicial Academy for the lawyer’s community which is an emergent need of the hour.

Hon’ble Justice also praised the role of Senior Advocates and his mother Bar Association which has always given love and affection to him. The function ended with the unveiling of the inauguration plate of the newly renovated Bar Room followed by a Vote of Thanks by worthy Vice President Vikas Malik.
