The members of Sector 19-C market stood united against the unethical and illogical demarcation of spaces for street vendors outside the entrances of their shops.
Sector 19C market and many other markets have been a victim of the nuisance caused by street vendors blocking the entrance to many shops hence affecting their trade for many years now. The limited parking space has been a long pending issue and to add further to the problems of the businessmen of this market, the administration has allotted spaces to the vendors. The rise in the number of street vendors is already resulting in an increase in crime rate.
MC’s planning to allot space to around 285 street vendors in Sector 19-C market which will result in a law and order problem with lots of chaos for the general public too.
No consent has been taken by the Administration from the existing shopkeepers regarding allotting spaces to the vendors, whereas it is the duty of the administration to provide a healthy and safe environment for good business to run. The shopkeepers of Sector 19C intend to move to the court if their plea is unheard and plan to announce indefinite strike and agitation if this issue is not dealt with in the right manner by the administration. The market committee is looking forward for a decongested market and that the administration should declare sector 19 a no vendor zone.
