MAINTENANCE COMMAND ANNUAL AEROSPACE SAFETY COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON 14TH JUNE 2019 AT 3 BASE REPAIR DEPOT, AIR FORCE CHANDIGARH

HQ Maintenance Command, Indian Air Force conducted its Annual Aerospace Safety Council Meeting on 14th June 2019 at 3 Base Repair Depot, Air Force Chandigarh. Air Marshal RKS Shera Air Officer-in-Charge Maintenance Command of Indian Air Force inaugurated the meeting. Air Marshal S Prabhakaran, Director General (Inspection & Safety) from Air Headquarters, New Delhi and other senior dignitaries graced the occasion. A total of 150 experts from Air Headquarters, HQ Maintenance Command, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, various Repair Depots, Equipment Depots, Air Force Liaison Cells, and other units under Maintenance Command spread across the country participated in the Council Meeting.

Air Vice Marshal B Manikantan, Senior Air & Admin Staff Officer Maintenance Command set the agenda for the meeting in his keynote address, highlighting the core concerns on Aerospace safety in Maintenance Command. This was followed by Lectures on ‘Industrial Safety’ by Dr (Prof) Arvind Kumar Vig, Professor of Aerospace at Chandigarh University. A Panel discussion on ‘Human Error (Servicing) with focus on IIIrd and IVth line servicing’ was conducted by the senior Engineering staff of Maintenance Command to identify methods to eliminate Servicing Errors.

A Pan Air Force Aerospace safety Review was conducted, following which the Director General (Inspection & Safety) addressed the gathering. This was followed by a visit to the newly inducted Chinook helicopter facility to apprise the audience on the latest technological advances in Aerospace safety.

Air Marshal RKS Shera, Air Officer-in-Charge Maintenance Command, shared his vision and the future focus areas during his concluding remarks.
