‘Meet The Critic’, organized at PU
School of Punjabi Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh organized an interaction on the topic Post-Modernism and Punjabi Literary Criticism under the series of ‘Meet The Critic’, A prominent critic, intellectual, poet, Sahitya Academy Awardee, Novelist Dr. Manmohan Singh, IPS (Retd.) came as a resource person to address the students of the Department.
Dr. Yog Raj Angrish, Chairperson of the Department introduced the speaker. He highlighted the contribution of the author and revealed the paradigm of his writings.
Dr. Manmohan familiarised the gathering with the thinkers from modern to post-modern times. The key concepts of post-modernity were widely discussed in the lecture. He concluded that there is no universal truth because of its always relative one. In advanced capitalism, new identities are emerged and we have to address the concerns of those on the basis of their cultural space.
Students raised questions due to their hunt for knowledge. All their queries were regarding the concept of “otherness” and “universalization”.
On the occasion, Prof. Sukhdev Singh, Prof. Uma Sethi, Prof. Sarabjit Singh, Dr. Parveen Kumar, Dr. Pawan Kumar, and Prof. Ashwani Kumar were present.
