Meeting Of U T State Steering Committee Regarding Covid-19 Vaccine

The State Steering Committee meeting for review and update of COVID vaccination drive in UT Chandigarh was held under the Chairmanship of Manoj Parida, IAS, Advisor to Administrator, UT Chandigarh along with senior officials of Chandigarh Administration, today. Dr. Amandeep Kang, Director Health & Family Welfare cum Mission Director – National Health Mission, UT Chandigarh shared an update regarding the status of COVID Vaccination of registered beneficiaries at various vaccination sites and also discussed other issues pertaining to the implementation of this initiative.
At the outset, the committee was appraised regarding all the efforts being undertaken by the health department to ensure coverage of the registered beneficiaries i.e. healthcare workers and frontline workers. it was further informed that 15 session sites have been established at various locations in the city from where the facility of vaccination can be availed by the beneficiaries.
Vaccine hesitancy amongst the HCWs and FLWs has emerged to be the main reason for the slow uptake of this vaccine for which the committee was apprised about all the efforts/ initiatives being undertaken to address the fears/queries. The activities undertaken for wider outreach like counselling sessions, advertisements, talks on FM radio, AIR, Nukkad Nataks etc. was also shared. The Chairman appreciated the efforts of the Health Department and expressed his satisfaction regarding the operational aspect of this drive. It has further been appealed to the registered HCWs and FLWs to avail the facility of free vaccination before the expiry of their respective timelines i.e. 20th February being the last date for HCWs and 1st March for FLWs. All the institutions were requested to motivate their employees for participation in the vaccination drive.
