PU to take a leap in AI domain by signing MoUs with research foundations

Panjab University, Chandigarh has signed two separate Memorandum of Understandings with Vitti Research Foundation and Sabudh Foundation. Prof. Arun Grover, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University signed MoUs with Mr. Kundana Lal from Vitti research foundation, and Dr. Sarabjot Singh Anand from Sabudh Foundation in the presence of Prof. Shankarji Jha, DUI, Prof. Savita Gupta, Chairperson, UIET, Prof. Ramanjit Kaur Johal, Director, Research Promotion Cell, Prof. Sukhwinder Singh, Director, Computer Centre and Prof. Rajat Sandhir, Associate Director, Research Promotion Cell.

A Centre of Excellence (CoE) in the field of AI and Robotics will be established in joint collaboration. The organisations have agreed to develop innovative applications in the field of Smart City, Health, Manufacturing, Governance and Agriculture. A premier laboratory for R&D in AI & Robotics will be established in which Masters and Ph.D researchers will be given opportunity to work with top Global Universities and researchers. Students will be trained keeping in mind the requirements of the industry. Startup community and entrepreneurial ecosystem will also be created in different AI fields. MOUs between the PU-Vitti Research Foundation and PU-Sabudh Foundation are for the duration of five years.
