PU VC urges Emeritus Professors of PU for Support

In the first kind of initiative taken by Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh, Emeritus Professors of PU were invited for taking their inputs for the academic growth of PU.
PU, VC in his address to all present said that Emeritus Professors are an asset to the University because of their profound knowledge and illustrious experience. He said that University has to its credit unparalleled achievements and deliverables but the need of the hour is to showcase the same for the Brand Building of PU. The policy makers are looking at PU on the deliverables and are ready to fund the projects, he added.
He informed that there is a huge pool of funds with Govt. of India under Corporate Social Responsibility. PU VC informed that he is taking all concerted efforts to link Corporate Sector with PU for funds related to Labs., Scientific Instruments, Hostels, Academic Buildings and Toilets. It is important in today’s scenario to connect the corporate, the buyer and the society. He added that the basic objective of this meeting today was to take inputs from all to put Panjab University on fast-track for development.
He further informed that in his recent meetings with various Union and State Ministers, PU has already submitted the proposals and some are in the pipeline ranging from Rs. 10-140 Crores. PU is also in the process to establish Cyber Security and Artificial Intelligence Centre. Also, there is a proposal for making Indoor Gymnasium of International Standards. PU VC informed that he is taking steps for centralized use of scientific instruments of PU in order to strengthen, streamline and maximum utilization of labs at PU.
Prof. R.C. Sobti, former VC PU suggested for integration of various , departments under one umbrella in the form of Institution of Translational Sciences. He further urged for the creation of an Institute to tap the grass-root innovators from the villages for the benefit of PU.
