Road Safety Advocacy Programme under the scheme of financial Assistance to NGO for Administering Road Safety Advocacy in UT Chandigarh , a special drive under the theme “PROJECT JAGNU-BE VISIBLE , RIDE SOBER” was launched at Bapu Dham colony sector 26, near Police post Bapu Dham sector -26 CHD by Harman Sidhu President of NGO Arrive SAFE , S.S Anand from Anand sales alongwith Road Safety Awareness Team of Chandigarh Traffic Police By Affixing Reflectors and Reflective Tapes on Rickshaw/Rehri.
Most awareness campaigns and enforcement drives target drivers of motorized vehicles leaving this segment of road users to fend for themselves. Though drunk cyclists are not challaned under the Motor Vehicle Act, they are at a greater risk of losing life or getting life altering injury in case of road crash. They were advised not to consume alcohol while plying their rickshaw and rehri for their own safety as well as other road users.
Manisha Choudhary, IPS, SSP, Security& Traffic was the chief guest on the occasion and started the drive by pasting the first reflector. Jaswinder Singh, DSP/Road Safety and Charanjit Singh Virk, DSP/Traffic (East) and Palak Goel, DSP/Traffic (Central) and Traffic Marshals were also present. During this drive 1250 Reflectors and Reflective stickers/Tapes of Red/White/Yellow were affixed on the front, rear and both left & right sides of 250 /Rickshaw/Rehri for their visibility and to avoid any road side collision .
During this drive they were awarded about the benefit of uses cycle track and to cross the road from the designated red colour marked area at the intersection/Rotary for their own safety and saving themselves from any road side collision.
