Three Days Rose Fest Kicks off at PU

The 9th Panjab University Rose Festival to be held from February 9-11, 2018 was inaugurated by Prof. Meenakshi Malhotra, Dean of University Instruction, Panjab University at Prof. R.C. Paul Rose Garden by taking a round of all the canopies of various activities. She appreciated the efforts of the Horticulture department, PU for presenting the great show.
Col G S Chadha(Retd), Registrar, PU in his welcome address said that The Rose Festival was started eight years before and has been improved each year with various initiatives of The University Horticulture department.He urged all to participate and enjoy the festivities.
A variety of cultural programmes were presented by the students of Ankur School, Panjab University, Guru Gobind Singh Vidya Mandir, Ratwara Sahib & NSS volunteers. The audience enjoyed and applauded these performances.
Dr. Parminder Duggal, Principal, Ankur School, Ritu Oberoi, Principal, Guru Gobind Singh Vidya Mandir Sr. Sec. School, Ratwara Sahib, Jashan Kamboj, President, Panjab University Campus Students’ Council, Dr. Navdeep Sharma, NSS Coordinator were awarded for their valuable contribution towards the festival. The Dean of University Instruction also appreciated the efforts of Horticulture Division for maintaining the garden.
Flower Competition was also held today. About 500 participants put up their displays in their competition in 50 categories. Chandigarh Housing Board bagged maximum no. of prizes (19) followed by St. Soldier International School (16). Other prominent winners were CSIO & SGGS College.
The winners of the Photography Competition are 1st Prize: – Parmod Gautam, 2nd Prize: – Barira, 3rd Prize: – Ajitesh Balaini and Consolation: – Onir, in Open and School Categories of Panjab University (PU) Rose Festival. A large number of visitors visited the Rose Festival venue. They enjoyed and appreciated the displayed flowers and photo exhibition.
