Three Days Training Programme held for Pupil Teachers on “Child Rights” from 12th to 14th March 2019

Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) organized Three Days Training Programme for Pupil Teachers from Institute of Educational Technology and Vocational Education, Panjab University on “Child Rights” from 12th to 14th March 2019. The theme of the Programme to create awareness among the masses about Child Rights and issues related to the children. Around 60 Pupil teachers participated in the program.

The Programme started with the welcome address Harjinder Kaur, Chairperson, CCPCR and a keynote address by the Life Time achievement awardee Pritpal Kaur, Deputy Education Officer (Retd.), Chandigarh and the Programme was coordinated by  Chanchal Singh, RTE Consultant, CCPCR. Monica M Singh, Member, CCPCR delivered a Lecture on Social Responsibility of Teacher. Sessions were given to the students on Child Rights, JJ Act, POCSO Act and RTE Act by Neil Roberts, Ex-Chairperson, CWC, Tabusam Khan, DCPO, Chandigarh. On this occasion, Sangita Vardhan, Member CCPCR spoke on Children participation involving pupil teachers about the methodology.  The programme was presided over by Mahavir Singh, Member Secretary, State Legal Services Authority (SLSA), UT Chandigarh and he educated students on the student-teacher relationship and their protection from the sensitive challenges.
The pupil teachers also visited Chitkara International School, Sector 25, Chandigarh where lectures on “Role of Teacher” and “Teaching methodology” were delivered by Prof. Nirmal Dutt and Niyati Chitkara respectively. While thanking the CCPCR Dr. Rekha from Institute of Educational Technology and Vocational Education, Panjab University said that such enlightening training programme has totally changed the students perspective about teaching and will go long way in shaping their personality as a teacher of tomorrow.
