TRICITY FASHION WEEK – Where Fashion with Cause Enthralled

Tricity Fashion Week, the flagship event of Big Break Entertainment came to a befitting end at the Hotel Holiday Inn, Panchkula. The two-day Fashion Week saw creative design collections displayed by 12 designers which were appreciated by all and sundry at the event.
The fashion week was inaugurated by Mrs. Upinder Kaur Walia, Honorable Mayor of Panchkula. She appreciated the work of the organizers and gave her support to the cause of proposing a ban on the open sale of acid which has often been used by jilted lovers to destroy the lives of many young girls and women. “It is heartening to see that the cause of women is also being highlighted in this show. It would be even more effective, if we involve women at the grass root level to eradicate this malady. I assure you of my full support”, she said. Renowned Ophthalmologist Dr Harpeet Kaur was also honored by the organizers.
The fashion week kicked off with a Bollywood based collection by Kingshuk and it laid the foundation for many other exciting rounds which were appreciated by all. Chandigarh based designer Jyoti whose collection as inspired by Rajasthan culture and tradition. ‘Srijna’ was the aptly named title of Ritu collection. Her work included usage of natural dyes and pigments and impressions made from real leaves. One could easily call it very creative and of course in tune with the environment.
The show was ably choreographed by Jeet Brar, veteran in industry.
Then came the turn of Gauri and Shyma who focused their attention on draping style. Nupur and Khushboo expressed themselves through their clothes that set them apart from previous generations.
“It was a great experience working with the models and fashion designers. The people gave us a great response and in the future also we will be conducting such shows that will launch many careers in the glamour world”, added Mr. Anil Sharma the CEO of Big Break Entertainment, Mumbai.
Simi Sharma, director of the company and also the anchor for the evening gave eye opening speech on the plight of the acid survivors. She urged the doctors to come forward to treat & NGO’s not to ask for the money but to ask for the medical facilities and basics for the better life of such victims…
Big Break Entertainment is running a drive from past three months that Acid should be sold in a controlled manner through legal license, just like Kerosene and Petrol. A bottle available for merely Rs 30 in market has devastated the life of many young girls…
On day two of the event the Chief Guest was Brigadier Kuldip Singh Chandpuri, Maha Vir Chakra awardee and the ‘Hero of the Battle of Laungewala’ on whose life the super hit hindi film ‘Border’ was based and Sunny Deol played his role in it. “It is very unfortunate that these kind of things are happening to our sisters and daughters in today’s times. It will be good on the part of the Govt if steps are taken to regulate the sale of acid, which has till now been used to shatter the lives of many woman” said Brig Chandpuri.

Noted film and television actress Aarti Joshi who has also acted in the TV Serial ‘Yeh Hai Mohabbatein’ was the show stopper model for her.
The collection by Isha and Kiran was inspired by the lovely idea of being in love. Laxmi & Rashmi presented their experiment with grey.
Pretty models sashaying across the ramp in black, grey and white were the cynosure of all eyes. Local designer Riddhi showcased her collection titled ‘Nirvana’ – she bagged ‘Best Innovation in Design’ award for her efforts.
The last round belonged to Gyanika who has specially flown from Mumbai to be a part of this great event.She also won the prestigious award for the ‘Best Collection of the show’ at the end of the event.
Many Showstoppers included models who have won crowns in various beauty pageants. Models who participated included Priya, Manisha, Rajkumari, Teena, Shruti, Aditi, Vinnie, Sahlini, Sanjana, Rashmi, Anupama, Rakhi, Mansi, Taruna, Sanna, Shanaya, Savita, Arushi and Tatyana the Russian model. The show was ably anchored by Simi Sharma and Hardeep Chandpuri.
