The NSS camp for the year 2018 that ran between 24 December and 30 December, 2018 at KB DAV Senior Secondary Public School, Sector 7-B, Chandigarh sprang up a myriad of activities for as many as 56 volunteers, all from Class XII. The Valedictory Function on 30 December ended the camp on a high – octane session with Mr. Sandeep Joshi, the famous cartoonist from the popular The Tribune newspaper. He inspired the volunteers to keep the art alive in their lives. He gave examples of high profile politicians and bureaucrats who take to something creative, like painting, singing, clay modelling, only to de-stress themselves. He shared his roller coaster ride so far with the different caricatures and cartoons that he has made so far, and has been honoured for. He entertained the NSS volunteers by showing them different cartoons of his through the projector, and shared the story behind each cartoon.

The Chief Guest for the occasion was Sh. Bikram Rana, the State Liaison Officer, NSS Wing, Chandigarh Administration, U.T. Chandigarh. The Chief Guest, Sh. Bikram Rana Ji spoke to the NSS enthusiasts and encouraged them to work whole heartedly for the service of the society. A good orator as he is, Mr. Rana talked of the importance of the NSS Camps, and how such camps can mould the direction of a student altogether in a positive and useful direction. He also stressed on why the problems of India have been lingering on, and what the present youth in different capacities can do to obliterate these problems

once and for all from the soil of their motherland.

Prizes and certificates were given away to the NSS Volunteers who were judged throughout the week. Chirag and Navya were adjudged the most enthusiastic and dedicated NSS volunteer. Bhavana Sardana and Sakshi Shah took away the Best Orators; Ishita Khanna  and Ashutosh Malhotra were adjudged the Best NSS Female and Best NSS volunteer, respectively. Appreciation certificates were also given out to the NSS volunteers for their contributions during the blood donation camp held on the school campus on 8th December, 2018.

Principal Mrs. Pooja Prakash said that she was very happy to see the transformation that has taken place in the NSS Volunteers over theses seven days. She encouraged the volunteers to step into the world with a motive to connect with the community and bring about a change. She wished the volunteers good luck for their futures and motivated them to give their best to the society.
