Walking with Baba Nanak” organized by CCPCR in collaboration with Education Department, Chandigarh

Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) in collaboration with Education Department, UT Chandigarh in continuation of commemorating 550th Birth Anniversary of Baba Nanak organized a major event “Walking with Baba Nanak” at Plaza Market Sector 17, Chandigarh, in which 550 students from various schools of Chandigarh along with their teacher representatives participated with great vigor and zeal. The event was also supported by Chandigarh Beopar Mandal, Chandigarh.

It was a gala event dedicated to the teaching of Guru Nanak Dev ji, “Naam japo, Vand chakho, Kirat karo” meaning to earn an honest, pure and dedicated living by exercising one’s God-given skills, abilities, talents and hard labor for the benefit and improvement of the individual, their family and society at large.

On this occasion, B.L Sharma, IAS, Secretary Social Welfare and Secretary Education, Chandigarh Administration was the chief Guest and Rubinderjit Singh Brar, Director School Education, Mahavir Singh, Member Secretary, State Legal Services Authority and Debendra Dalai, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forest were the Guest of Honour. 

The Occasion was graced by Jarnail Singh, Renowned Artist from Canada, Rajinder Kaur, Deputy Director vocational Education, Anujit Kaur, District Education Officer, Harbir Singh, Deputy District Education Officer from Education Department. 

On this occasion, a book dedicated to the celebration of 550th Birth Anniversary of Baba Nanak was released by B.L Sharma, IAS, Secretary Social Welfare and Secretary Education, Chandigarh Administration in the presence of Rubinderjit Singh Brar, Director School Education, Mahavir Singh, Member Secretary, State Legal Services Authority, Debendra Dalai, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forest and Harjinder Kaur, Chairperson, CCPCR.
The event commenced on a artistic note where 14 renowned artists from Chandigarh came together and did live painting on the theme of Pawan Guru, Paani Pita and Dharat Mata. Students from various schools marched in unison at Plaza Market, Sector 17, Chandigarh spreading awareness to save mother earth and pollution free environment.

The event was followed by Shabad Gayan by students and Balloon release ceremony. There was a magnificent performance of Gatka by children. The eminent folk dance “Malwai Gidda” was wonderfully performed in the vent. 

Constitution Day (National Law Day), also known as Samvidhan Divas was also observed during the event by taking a pledge by all the dignitaries and participants. The event was concluded by the distribution of Kada Prashad and langar.
