YOUNG OFFICERS’ MOUNTAINEERING EXPEDITION TO PIN PARVATI (17553 FEET) FLAGGED IN

A team Comprising of 19 young officers of the Western Command along with three officers, one JCO & 15 ORs of 16 PUNJAB (PATIALA) as Training Team was flagged in by GOC-in-C,HQ Western Command, Lieutenant General Surinder Singh. The Army Commander appreciated the display of grit, determination and camaraderie by the young officers in conquering the glaciated terrain with zeal & enthusiasm.

The team covered the challenging distance of 146 Km from Mud in Spiti Valley to Manikaran in Kullu Valley crossing Pin Parvati Pass at height of 17553 feet. The trek was primarily aimed to give exposure to volunteer Young Officers of Western Command to the vagaries of weather and terrain being faced by troops deployed in High Altitude Area. The experience gained by Young Officers will boost their confidence for undertaking similar adventurous activities in future.
